The much awaited summer transfer window is here again and many Arsenal fans world wide are yet again expecting a flock of stars at the Emirates this summer especially on the back of a reported £100M set to be handed to Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal are ready to make a £17million bid for Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne – if he impresses at this summer’s World Cup according to the Metro.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has added Insigne to his list of transfer targets as he looks to add to his attacking options during the forthcoming transfer window.
And Wenger has told his scouts to keep a close eye on the 23-year-old, who is likely to play a key role in the Italy squad that will face England, Uruguay and Costa Rica in Brazil.
If he impresses, Arsenal will slap a £17million bid on the table for the player, with Wenger confident it should be enough to land him.
Insigne has been watched by Gunners officials in action for Napoli this term, with Wenger being handed glowing reports on him.
If he enjoys a strong summer tournament, it would be enough to convince the north London to stump the cash, with Napoli thought to be happy to sell in a bid to raise funds for other deals.
Although the 23-year-old spent a lot of time outside the club on loan but his performances at Pescara enticed parent club Napoli to bring him back to his hometown club for the 2012–13 Serie A season.
Wenger would be looking to take advantage on the young prodigy’s lack of play time at Napoli due to the number of forward available at their disposal with the likes of Edinson Cavani, Goran Pandev, Eduardo Vargas and Omar El Kaddouri meant that Insigne started often on the substitutes’ bench.
