Following the start of the biggest football event in the world; the World Cup, taking place in Brazil, A lot of expectations have been shifted to various Arsenal targets currently featuring at the Competition with offers expected to follow suite during and immediately after the on-going competition.
Arsenal’s continuous delve in the transfer window seems to be taking several turns with Schalke’s Julian Draxler confirming that Arsenal did submit an offer for his services in January but is adamant and insists he will stay at the Bundesliga club for one more season according to the Express.
The 20-year-old Germany international was courted by the Gunners in January, but after failing in their attempts to secure the services of the youngster, they plumped for a loan deal for Kim Kallstrom instead.
Draxler also attracted interest from Manchester United but a deal failed to materialise.
And it seems both Premier League clubs will have to put their interest in Draxler on hold following his latest comments.
“In January there was the offer of Arsenal, but I decided to stay,” Draxler told BBC Sport.
“I will do the same this summer. I want to play one year more in Schalke.”
Draxler hit five goals in 38 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit last term and was selected by Joachim Loew for the Germany national team currently on duty in Brazil for the World Cup.
