Arsenal’s search for a strike partner next season for lone forward Olivier Giroud has seen the Gunner’s being linked with an avalanche of stars with most of them currently featuring in the on-going World cup competition, representing their various national sides in the tournament currently taking place in Brazil.
Arsenal boss; Arsene Wenger has been reported by many sources as scouting and targeting a lot of players at the World Cup who are all currently on his wish-list this summer with an aim of snapping them up during and before the end of the competition.
But now Liverpool have been reported to have captured one of Arsenal’s target – Alexis Sanchez, who is also being courted by Manchester United’s new boss Louis Van Gaal.
Liverpool’s interest in the Barcelona star was further starred up following the utterly dismay and disgraceful incident shown by their current top striker Luis Suarez at the World Cup when the frustrated Uruguayan bit Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini arm when the two sides met in their final game of the World Cup group stages.
The Uruguayan striker could be on his way out of Liverpool after yet another biting incident. And now according to Anfield favourite Phil Thompson, a deal to bring in 25-year-old Sanchez is already done and dusted.
Sanchez appears to be on his way out of Barcelona after being deemed surplus to requirements by new coach Luis Enrique, and Thompson believes that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has already pounced to wrap up a move for the versatile forward.
Sanchez is valued at £27million by the Catalan giants, and Thompson claims that he has been told that the deal is already in the bag for the Merseyside club.
He said: “What will happen to Luis Suarez in the future? Is he angling for a move? Who knows.
“Just yesterday I heard things from people, newspaper guys who are very close to the ground at Liverpool, saying that the Sanchez deal was actually done.”
Earlier reports last week had indicated that Wenger was set to hold talks with the Chilean forward’s representatives about a possible move to North London. With several reports suggesting that the Arsenal boss was serious about landing the pacy and versatile star.
Although valid prove indicating whether or not Liverpool have signed Sanchez is lacking. But this would be surely brought to light in the coming days. And whether or not Arsenal still retain a chance in landing the man would be made known.
