Several Arsenal targets have since the start of the biggest football event put in really impressive performances in their various World Cup campaigns with many of them soaring high with their national teams in Brazil while some however did not make it through to the next round of the competition but didn’t fail to impress within the short stint given at the tournament.
One of Arsenals’ target currently soaring high at the World Cup in Brazil is Southampton midfielder – Morgan Schneiderlin. The 24-year-old made his full World Cup debut in the Ecuador match and he believes boss Didier Deschamps, who captained Les Bleus to glory at the 1998 finals on home soil, can lead them to victory again in Brazil.
Schneiderlin said: “It’s just an amazing spirit in the squad. We all working very hard, we all like each other. I’m not saying it to say it, I’m saying it because it’s true. In the past we had problems but today we are together and like being with squad together every day.
“If we don’t believe we can win the World Cup, we need to stop now. Of course we need to think that we can win. We know it’s going to be tough and we take each game as the final, and then we see.
“I know in 1998 when they won the World Cup, it was against Croatia, it was against Paraguay, it’s just a small margin that takes them through. We have the best man in charge to explain what it’s like.
“He’s got the experience. He knows how to take it and he’s going to give us a lot of advice.”
The Frenchman has been targeted by Arsenal; who are in need of a holding midfielder packed with much steel alongside flair in the middle of the park.
Although there are other defensive midfield options on Wenger’s wish-list however with the Gunner boss currently working with French Tv station – TF1 as a commentator, the gaffer would have the pleasure of reporting first-hand the players performances while taking key notes on a player he is keen on landing.
