David Ospina says Arsène Wenger’s confidence in his players has allowed them to produce their best form.
Arsenal’s current first choice goalkeeper David Ospina says that Arsene Wenger is the man behind the Gunners’s brilliant run of form.
Ospina who ousted Wojciech Szczęsny from the first team since the start of the year revealed that Wenger’s confidence in his players has allowed them produce their best form.
The Colombian shot stopper said this in an interview with Arsenal Player ahead of Sunday’s crucial clash against league leaders Chelsea at the Emirates.
Ospina hailed his teammates, insisting that the “excellent players” available have helped push the team forward.
The 26-year-old also thanked the fans for making his integration into the Arsenal set-up an easy one, and insists he will continue to give his best for the club.
“I think that we have created our own way of playing,” the Colombia international told Arsenal Player.
“We have excellent players at our disposal but now we have to keep on track. We have a brilliant manager in charge who has been able to put us on course for where we want to go.
“The defence I play with is full of experienced players who have played many games in strong national teams. It has helped for sure. We take pride in doing things well and I’m sure we can achieve a lot.”
“I adapted to the English style and the style required by the team quickly,” he said. “I tried to put it into practice in the role I play in the team, in the best way possible.
“I have to thank all the fans for the experience they’ve given me. It’s been important to me and this team, and has been a great source of pride for me. As I’ve always said, I will always try my best and dedicate myself to the team, and I hope I will be able to give my all until the end for Arsenal.”
Ospina is sure to start against Jose Mourinho’s side this weekend, a match which will be his biggest test yet since joining Arsenal last summer.
