Arsenal set to swoop in for Geoffrey Kondogbia [Picture: Rueters]
Arsenal’s delve in the upcoming transfer window seems to be taking a rather surprising fashion as there are reports that the Gunners retain their interest to land Monaco defensive midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.
Geoffrey Kondogbia who was signed from Sevilla two years ago has a fixed £25million price tag on him; surprisingly this has refused to ward off big clubs from being interested in signing him.
Inter Milan recently made enquiry for a possible swoop for the 6ft 2 inch defender, but the Gunner still remain in pole position to land the 22-year-old in the summer.
Kondogbia who still has three years left in his contract has scored twice in 46 appearances for Monaco.
The young lad has been on Arsene Wenger’s radar since his time as a teenager at Lens and also during his spell in Spain.
However, it was earlier reported that the Gunners made a surprising transfer move for South Korean international Ki Sung-Yueng, with Sky Sports claiming Wenger has approached the Swans over the availability of the midfielder with talks already begun.
Wenger is in the market to bolster his midfield ahead of next season and have identified the 26-year-old as a cheaper option to the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Geoffrey Kondogbia.
