Good news coming out of Portugal are suggesting that Arsenal have been cleared to sign one of Arsene Wenger’s recent most admired forwards.
According to the Metro, the Gunners have been handed a major boost in their bid to land Jackson Martinez in the summer.
The report says Arsenal have been cleared to sign the goal-poacher after Porto rejected a transfer bid from Atletico Madrid.
The 28-year-old is believed to be top on Wenger’s transfer wish-list and a deal to bring him to the Emirates Stadium in summer is said to be close.
Martinez is set to leave Porto this summer, with the Portuguese club already looking for his replacement.
Porto are on the brink of completing a deal for Rayo Vallecano’s Alberto Bueno after he passed his medical on recently, leaving the way clear for Arsenal to swoop for their target.
Wenger is reportedly set to splash the cash to land Martinez, with reports suggesting the Arsenal boss is lining up a £25.7million bid for him when the Copa America ends in July.
Martinez himself has said he is leaving Porto for a bigger club, Wenger has showered praise on him, Porto fans have said their goodbyes, Portuguese newspapers have claimed an agreement in principle has been reached and with Porto signing his replacement, it is almost certain Arsenal will have their man in the coming days.
