Arsenal have been handed further boost in their pursuit of Porto hitman Jackson Martinez.
The Gunners have been giving another reason to believe the South American is headed for the Emirates Stadium with reports according to the Metro that Jackson Martinez is odds on to join Arsenal in the summer transfer window, according to bookmakers Betfair.
The Colombia international is set to leave current club Porto in the coming months, with Valencia, AC Milan, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid all believed to be interested in him.
But Arsenal are the bookies favourites to land the 28-year-old, with Betfair cutting the odds on him moving to the Emirates to 8/15 on, before slashing them even further on their website to 1/2 on.
Martinez’s arrival would be a real statement of intent from the Gunners, with the shortened odds suggesting that Arsene Wenger really might pull the deal off.
Wenger is reportedly set to splash the cash to land Martinez, with reports suggesting the Arsenal boss is lining up a £25.7million bid for him when the Copa America ends in July.
Martinez himself has said he is leaving Porto for a bigger club, Wenger has showered praise on him, Porto fans have said their goodbyes, Portuguese newspapers have claimed an agreement in principle has been reached and with Porto signing his replacement, it is almost certain Arsenal will have their man in the coming days.
