Arsenal have been handed a final transfer blow in their pursuit of pacy Spanish forward Pedro.
According to Barcelona’s official website, Pedro has signed a new deal, extending his stay at the Nou Camp until the summer of 2019.
This news has ended rumours of the World Cup winner being close to a move away from the Catalan giants.
The Spain international was linked with a move away from the Nou Camp this summer after losing his place in the starting XI to Luis Suarez.
Fichajes claimed the Gunner’s where close to a move for the 27-year-old, with a bid already submitted to Barcelona for the Spaniard.
Manchester United, Inter Milan and Chelsea were all believed to be interested, but Pedro has snubbed all in order to lengthen his Barcelona stay.
A statement on the club’s official website confirmed the agreement, saying: “FC Barcelona has announced that they have reached an agreement with Pedro Rodríguez to renew his contract until 30 June 2019.
“The striker’s current contract was due to expire on 30 June 2016. His buyout clause will remain at 150 million euros.”
