Arsenal are on the look-out for world class players this summer. However, Arsene Wenger will have to cough out a record transfer fee if he is to land Juventus midfield wonder star, Paul Pogba, according to Italian journalist Ghilda Pensante.
Pogba is easily the best midfielder in the world under 24 at the moment and it is expected that a stunning bidding war in the region of £58million would force the Italian champions to sell.
The 22-year-old joined the Old Lady on a free transfer in the summer of 2012 after seeing out his contract at United.
And Pensante, of Sky Italia, admits Pogba could be sold in the summer if suitors meet Juve’s asking price of £58million.
She said per the Express: “They will just wait and only consider any official offers over €80million (£58m) – no less.
“Any offers that are smaller, Juventus wouldn’t even consider it and would keep the player until next season.
“So we will have to see if there is an offer from Man City or other big clubs.”
The figure quoted by Juventus may put Pogba out of Arsenal’s reach, but what is certain is that Pogba is a player Wenger would ardently love to have.
“We were interested in Pogba when he was at Manchester” Wenger has been quoted as saying.
“We tried to get him, but it was complicated. I was surprised to see Manchester let him go. We did not have the right to contact him”.
