Arsenal are reportedly closer than ever to the signing of their most rumoured transfer target.
Fellow transfer rivals have apparently pulled out of talks to sign Porto hitman Jackson Martinez, leaving Arsenal clear.
This report is according to the Express, who claim the Gunners are clear to complete the transfer of Colombia star Jackson Martinez after Italian giants AC Milan pulled out of the race for his signature.
It is no news that Wenger is keen on adding to his attacking force ahead of the new season to bolster his chances of clinching the Premier League title after almost 12 years.
Martinez has been heavily linked to the Gunners, as the man Wenger has chosen to lead his team to glory next season; with the reports also saying the hitman is confident a deal will be done soon.
However, recent reports emerged suggesting Italian giants Milan had pulled a fast one on the Gunners in the race for the Porto goal-poacher.
But fresh reports are claiming the Rossoneri have pulled out of talks and to sign Martinez and have shifted their interest to PSG’s want-away striker Edinson Cavani.
Martinez has repeatedly sounded out his interest in joining Arsenal and is reportedly waiting for his £24.3million release clause to be triggered by Wenger ahead of a summer move.
