Arsenal could be landed a major transfer blow with fresh reports emerging from Spain that one of Arsene Wenger’s key player has become a target for Spanish giants.

Laurent is linked with move to Real Madrid to replace rumoured Manchester United target, Sergio Ramos.

Madrid are prepared to offer Arsenal a bid of £21 million for French centre-back, Laurent Koscielny; despite the defender on signing a new contract at Arsenal last year.

This is according to the Mirror who claims the Los Blancos could make a bid for the Arsenal defender as a possible replacement for Sergio Ramos, if the Spanish defender exits the Bernabeu for Old Trafford this summer.

However, if the La Liga side were to make such a bid for Koscielny, it is likely that the bid would be rejected, due to the importance of Laurent Koscielny to the Arsene Wenger’s side.

The 29-year-old joined Arsenal in 2010 from Ligue 1 side Lorient for a fee of £6 million. And, since his arrival, the defender has become one of the most important players in the Arsenal team and one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League.

Since 2013, Arsenal have won 70% of their games when Koscielny has played the full 90 minutes, and just 33% when he hasn’t, and the Gunners have averaged an additional 0.94 points per game with Koscielny in the side. Arsenal also conceded on average 1.2 fewer goals with Koscielny in the side and racked up 16 more clean sheets.
