In what may appear to be a shock reality for many Arsenal fans, defender Carl Jenkinson may be signing a new deal to extend his contract at Arsenal.
Jenkinson seemed to have fallen out of favour with Arsene Wenger, and the arrival of Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle and Calum Chambers from Southampton last season meant he was third choice in the selection order for right full back spot at the Emirates .
Jenkinson spent last season on loan at West Ham where he impressed under Sam Allardyce and it looked most likely that the deal would be made permanent this summer especially with Hector Bellerin providing more competition for that full back spot with impressive displays when he was called upon to replace injured Debuchy and Chambers.
Reports according to The Daily Mail per The Metro, suggests that Wenger has been impressed with Jenkinson’s development and though Jenkinson may not yet break into the Gunners first team, a long-term contract extension could be on the cards with the likelihood of another loan spell outside the Emirates with Sunderland, Stoke, Southampton and West Ham all likely destinations for the England Under-21 International.
