Arsenal fans can now expect at least one top quality signing before the end of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have already signed up veteran goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea for £11million – a deal which former teammate Frank Lampard believes could be the spring board to capturing a first EPL title since 2004.
But manager Arsene Wenger has said the possibility exists that there could be more additions to the squad.
“If we can still add some quality, we will do it,” said Wenger, while talking to Arsenal Player.
Arsenal have since transformed from being a “selling club” to pulling off marquee signings for the past two seasons.
Mesut Ozil joined from Real Madrid in 2013 for £42m and Alexis Sanchez was brought in last season from Barcelona for £35m.
Wenger is leaving nothing to chance as he hopes to add as much quality as possible, recalling the effect injuries played in the course of last season.
“We lost (Mesut) Ozil and (Olivier) Giroud for long periods last year and they contributed a lot in the second half of the season. Let’s hope all these players will be fit and available.”
“The best way to strengthen other areas of the team is to get the players who did not play a lot last year and keep them fit.”
Arsenal have already signed up two new fitness coaches James Haycock and Barry Solan and hopefully Wenger would be able to get the best out of his squad in the new season without having to worry much about injuries.
