Arsenal’s England international Carl Jenkinson, is on his way back to West Ham on a second loan spell after extending his contract with the Gunners by five years, as officially confirmed by Arsenal’s official website and West Ham United’s official website.
Jenkinson who enjoyed a stellar campaign in east London last term, will now return to new manager Slaven Bilic’s side, as the Hammers prepare for their last season at the Boleyn Ground.
West Ham beat off competition from Southampton and Sunderland after agreeing a loan fee of around £2million for the England Under-21 right-back.
Jenkinson’s surprise contract extension at Arsenal suggests that the defender is still part of Arsene Wenger’s long term plan; but with Mathieu Debuchy, Hector Bellerin and Calum Chambers providing stiff competition, it is only ideal that the 23-year-old defender is allowed to gain more confidence playing regular football elsewhere.
We wish ‘Jenko’ a wonderful season ahead at West Ham.
