Arsenal are on the lookout for top quality players ahead of next season.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push next season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best in the summer to achieve his target.
German side Schalke 04 are seeking to offload midfielder Julian Draxler with Arsenal reportedly keen, according to popular German media outlet Bild.
Draxler who has been a regular target for Arsenal in the last four transfer windows – with Schalke always refusing to sell, might finally be heading to the Emirates Stadium this summer as German tabloid Bild reports that the Bundesliga outfit are now open to doing business, in a bid to fund a deal for Inter Milan’s Xherdan Shaqiri.
Shaqiri has been linked with a move to the Premier League with Stoke City as a possible destination; but Schalke are reportedly preparing a bid of around £12million to bring him to the Bundesliga.
Draxler who can function as both a central midfielder and winger, has been tipped by pundits for a central attacker’s role in the nearest future, which will make him a suitable bargain for the Gunners who themselves are in need of more attacking options.
Draxler has made 157 appearances for Schalke scoring 29 goals; and Arsenal are reportedly keen on acquiring the services of the 21-year-old star.
