Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool may have been handed a major boost in their quest to sign Barcelona forward Pedro as news emerging from the Catalan side suggests that Barcelona have slashed the buy-out-clause in Pedro’s contract in a bid to allow him join another club ahead of next season, according to Daily Star.

Only last month, Barcelona extended Pedro’s contract by 4years with a massive £107million release-clause included in the deal. But in a rather swift development, the club have reduced that sum to a mere £21.5million.

Pedro had been relegated to the bench last season following the formidable partnership of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar which produced and incredible 122 goals, as Barcelona recorded a clean sweep of all available major trophies.

That trend is not likely to change hence the Spanish international will have to look elsewhere if he is to get regular playing time next season.

His release-clause would have been a big hindrance to potential suitors but with the massive reduction, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain would now fancy their chances of signing the striker.

While Arsenal can now lay claim to being able to compete favourably in the transfer market – thanks to a healthy financial stability, Liverpool have been handed a massive £49million from the sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City and would not hesitate to part with £21.5m for a player of Pedro’s quality.

Chelsea on the other hand, can always rely on owner Roman Abramovich’s funds, and latest reports from Spanish newspaper AS, suggests that Pedro is holding out for a move to the Premier League champions after knocking back earlier advances from Arsenal, Liverpool and PSG.

Pedro has made 318 appearances for Barcelona scoring 98 goals.
