Dutch media reports that Arsenal’s 22-year-old out of favour striker Yaya Sanogo has agreed a loan move to Ajax.
The former French U21 international was loaned to Crystal Palace last season where he failed to impress, attempting only 5 shots without a single one on target – poor stats for a striker hoping to unseat the likes of Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck in the Arsenal attack.
Sanogo, in his first presser after completing his loan switch to Ajax, revealed his desire to follow in the footsteps of former Amsterdam greats Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Nwankwo Kanu.
Wenger commenting on Yaya’s transfer said: “He needs to play,”
“He is at that age. He came to us injured and it took us a while to get him to top level.”
“I’m sure it will be good for Ajax and he has opportunity to play in the Champions League and that’s vital for his experience.”
With the opportunity to work under Arsenal greats – Dennis Bergkamp and Marc Overmars, hopefully he will learn a thing or two to turn him into the top striker his potentials once showed.
