Aston Villa have signed a second Arsenal staff on-board their management, after completing the deal for Arsenal’s head of Business development Hendrik Almstadt.
After their poaching of Tom Fox from Arsenal last September, Fox then recommended Almstadt and Aston Villa made the move, convincing him to join up with Fox at Villa Park.
Fox, while speaking to the press after the signing said: “I’m really pleased to welcome Hendrik to Aston Villa.”
“I was able to see first-hand the excellent work he did at Arsenal and he will add tremendous value across our entire football set-up.”
The German Almstadt is reported to have played a major role in the 15million signing of Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal in January, according to the Telegraph.
Almasdt has been signed to become the club’s first ever Sporting Director according to Aston Villa’s website and would be focused on improving Aston Villa’s scouting.
The Villians who are currently trying to convince French defender Jordan Amavi to choose them over other suitors after agreeing a deal with Nice, will need Almasdt experience in completing the deal.
The club initially wanted to sign a Director of football but Tim Sherwood was against it, however, it seems they struck the right deal this time, with the manager saying: “I’m really excited Hendrik is joining.
“We have a lot of work to do at the football club and Hendrik will make the job I have here easier.”
