Arsenal are on the lookout for top quality players ahead of next season.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push next season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best in the summer to achieve his target.
Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in the summer, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.
England International Theo Walcott has confirmed he wants to stay at the Emirates.
Chelsea thought they could explore the possibility of taking him as part of Petr Cech’s Move to the Emirates which Wenger strongly said he was not ready for a swap deal. Liverpool also tried their best in signing the talented and pacy forward man in a swap deal for Raheem Sterling to the Emirates.
The 5’9 tall striker’s deal currently expires next summer and the management have offered the 26-year-old an extension with the club.
Walcott says, he wants to stay at the club and believes it ‘won’t be long’ before a new contract is sorted out.
‘My agent has talked to the club, I enjoy playing for this club so I am just letting them crack on with things,’ he said.
‘I’m sure it won’t be long. This squad, for me, is one of the best I’ve been involved in. I want to be part of that.’
The England star also hailed the special atmosphere within the squad.
‘There is something special in this group. I think successful teams stay together for a long time.
‘We have got to keep this group together.’
