Arsenal are on the lookout for world class stars this summer, but will also be looking to lose a few players as well, to free up space and funds going into the transfer window.
Mathieu Flamini is set to become the second Arsenal player to complete a switch from Arsenal to Galatasaray after a £4million agreement was reached between the two clubs according to reports.
The 31-year-old defensive midfielder who has fallen further down the pecking order at Arsenal with the improvement of Francis Coquelin and the talks of a new defensive midfielder will fancy his chances of a regular starting shirt in Turkey.
Flamini is in the final year of his second stint at Arsenal, and will soon be linking up with former Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski at Galatasaray – who left this summer for similar reasons.
Flamini returned to Arsenal from AC Milan in 2013 after initially leaving Arsenal for Milan in 2008. He helped Arsenal to an FA Cup trophy in 2014 but quickly fell down the pecking order, with the emergence of compatriot Coquelin.
His game time was further lessened with his last League start being against Liverpool in December 2014.
Flamini – in his second stint, has made 69 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 3 goals and lifting the FA Cup trophy twice.
Will Mathieu Flamini be missed?
