Arsenal seem to have been cleared to finally make their second major signing of the summer.
According to Spanish media outlet Fichajes.net per Metro, Arsenal could be set to have their bid for French forward Karim Bezenma accepted, after Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly set to sign his replacement.
Benzema who has been a long time target for Arsene Wenger, has been subject of a transfer to Arsenal this summer as the French boss plans a major title challenge next season.
Real boss Rafael Benitez on the other hand, is targeting Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus – who is a more versatile forward, as a replacement for Arsenal target Bezenma.
The Spanish boss also plans to utilise Cristiano Ronaldo upfront next season, leaving Benzema’s chances of playing as the main striker slim.
Fichajes also say that Madrid, though initially stalled transfer talks for 27-year-old Benzema, are now ready to accept Arsenal’s £31.3million offer, and plan to use the fee paid by the Gunners to fund the £63million transfer of 26-year-old Reus.
This report will surely come as great news to Arsenal fans, who have been yearning to have a proven striker within their ranks ahead of the new season.
