Wojciech Szczesny has been dropped as Arsenal’s number one man between the sticks after a recent drop in form coupled with a smoking issue.
Arsenal are on the lookout for world class stars this summer, but will also be looking to lose a few players as well, to free up space and funds going into the transfer window.
Arsenal’s Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has finally completed a deal to move to AS Roma on a season-long deal, according to reports.
This report is according to France Football, who claim Italian giants AS Roma have finally secured the services of the former Arsenal number one on a season-long loan deal.
Szczesny’s place at Arsenal slumped further downward, after the £11million signing of Chelsea legend Petr Cech this summer meant that he was now the club’s third choice goalkeeper – behind Cech and David Ospina.
Szczesny’s transfer to the Italian giants will come as a huge relief to many Arsenal fans who feared last summer signing David Ospina – who ousted Szczesny from Wenger’s starting line-up, would exit the Emirates Stadium instead following several reports linking him with a move away from north London.
It is said that he 25-year-old Poland international preferred to remain at the Emirates as an understudy to 33-year-old Cech; however, the lure of top class regular football at Roma was his best option to get back to top level.
