Wojciech Szczesny has been dropped as Arsenal’s number one man between the sticks after a recent drop in form coupled with a smoking issue.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push next season and the boss is aware of the need to use only the best in the new season to achieve his target.
The Gunners have finally confirmed the transfer of Poland international Wojciech Szczesny to AS Roma on a season long loan.
The club made the official statement today on their website, though Szczesny had already broke the news of his transfer via his official account on popular social media outlet Instagram.
The 25-year-old Pole will now be spending next season on loan at the Serie A, as he struggles to regain the form which saw him win the Golden Glove award in the 2013/2014 season.
After series of disgraceful performances last season, Szczesny lost his place in goal at Arsenal to David Ospina.
His chances this season however, has been put in further doubt after the summer signing of Petr Cech from Chelsea, with the 33-year-old veteran set to be handed the number one position in between the sticks, with Ospina to remain as second choice.
Szczesny, who joined the Arsenal academy in 2006, has made a total of 181 appearances for the club since making his senior debut at the age of 19 in 2009.
