Arsenal defeated Chelsea at Wembley to lift their second consecutive Community Shield title, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scoring the only goal of the game with a fine left footed drive that left the Blue’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois helpless.

Petr Cech: 8

The former Chelsea man marshaled his new team’s backline well. He also did well to stop Oscar’s well taken free-kick. His distribution also was very impressive.

Hector Bellerin: 7

The young right back wasn’t fazed by the occasion and put in a fearless shift both in attack and defence.

Per Mertesacker: 7.5

The skipper was a rock in defense, nullified most of the aerial threats. Was caught out for Ramires’s free header, but was solid for the rest of the game.

Laurent Koscielny: 7.5

The Frenchman formed a dynamic partnership with Mertesacker, moving ahead of the German to clear danger before it gets into the box.

Nacho Monreal:  7

The Spaniard put in another decent performance on the day. He assisted the attack when he could and had to run the left flank alone in times when Ozil didn’t drift out wide. He got more help when Gibbs came on.

Francis Coquelin: 8

It was an excellent performance from the defensive midfielder. He tackled everything in a blue shirt that had the ball. Coquelin also started attacks with some impressive long passes. He once again showed why Arsenal didn’t need the likes of Schneiderlin.

Santi Cazorla: 7

The Spaniard missed a one on one chance and created a few more for his teammates. It was an average attacking performance from the midfield maestro.

Mesut Ozil: 7

This wasn’t the kind of game where he would run all the show, due to the physicality of the game, but he did well creating chances with intelligent passing and generally had a good performance.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: 8 (MoTM)

He was meant to replace Alexis Sanchez on the day and he did it well. He used his speed, technique and power to devastating effect against Chelsea – scoring a wonderful goal to win the game, cutting inside from the right flank to his left foot, and then unleashing an unstoppable shot beyond Courtuios.

Aaron Ramsey: 7.5

Ramsey was in and around everywhere he was needed, filled in every midfield position, created chances and generally had a good game.

Theo Walcott: 6.5 (FoTM)

It just wasn’t the England international’s kind of game as the Chelsea defense was just too physical and deep lying for him. He was lost for most of the game, and his only major contribution was the assist for the goal before was taken off for Giroud.

Olivier Giroud: 7

The Frenchman came on for Walcott and brought energy and physicality to the attack. He hassled Cahill and Terry, got two chances and created attacks.

Mikel Arteta: 7

The captain came on for Chamberlain to shore up the midfield and he did just that, diving into tackles, and showed passion for the team he missed playing for.

Kieran Gibbs: 6

The England international came on to assist Nacho Monreal, he did that and also had some effect at the attacking end, missing a one-on-one chance.
