Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of vital summer transfer target Karim Benzema from Real Madrid.
This report is according to the Telegraph per the Metro who claim Arsenal are keen on bringing Benzema to the Emirates Stadium this summer, with the Gunners prepared to make the deadly forward the club’s top earner in order to convince him to make the switch to England.
The report also says Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made the signing of the 27-year-old Frenchman a top priority, with a reported bid of £40million lined up for the 87 goals in 188 appearances super star.
If the Gunners new bid to bring Benzema to north London is accepted by Madrid, the striker will become the clubs highest earner – above Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.
Arsenal’s decision to go all out for Benzema has been triggered by the news of two their other targets Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette both deciding against leaving their various clubs this summer.
