Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push next season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best in the summer to achieve his target.
Arsenal have been given a clear path to complete a deal for Roma’s Alessio Romagnoli after the centre-back refused to agree personal terms with AC Milan according to Metro.
The 20-year-old defender looked like he was on his way to AC Milan to join up with Sinisa Mihajovic – who was his manager during his loan spell at Sampdoria, after Milan made a £20million bid for him recently.
The path is now clear for Arsenal to swoop for the centre-back who spent last season on a successful loan stint at Sampdoria, making 31 appearances in all competition for the Serie A outfit. However, the Gunners would be required to meet Roma’s £25million valuation of the player.
Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on adding a centre-back to his side before the summer transfer window closes, and the Arsenal boss see the Italy U21 international’s as a perfect target.
