Chelsea target William Carvalho has admitted his love for Premier league rivals Arsenal.
In an interview with Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the midfielder said:
‘I prefer not to say, but there is a club with which I’ve always empathised – Arsenal,’ he told A Bola, as quoted by the Daily Express.
‘Because of a player who was I very fond of, in this case I wear the number of him: Thierry Henry, a player with whom I always empathized too. ‘Maybe this is why I look with more attention to the Premier League.’
The Blues have been monitoring Carvalho for quite some time and are said to be interested in the Portuguese midfielder after the club missed out on summer target Paul Pogba.
It is claimed that Jose Mourinho is interested in a powerful central midfielder after seeing his side dominated in the midfield by more physical teams. Chelsea has been linked with Gianeli imbula and now William Carvalho.
The Portuguese midfielder has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent years. A leg injury saw the north London club cool their interest in the Sporting Lisbon midfielder, but Arsene Wenger could return for the player after his recent comments.
Carvalho has a £33.3m release clause in his contract. Arsene wenger has scouted the player on numerous occasions but are said to be unwilling to meet his release clause.
