Walsall youngster Rico Henry has been making a name for himself this season in league one, and Arsenal have now joined a host of top Premier League clubs in the pursuit of his signature.
The young left back who has been likened to Gunners legend Ashley Cole, -with the media calling him the ‘new Ashley Cole’- has been in excellent form this season, and a Best Young Player award for the month of September shows it hasn’t gone unnoticed.
The youngster who is known for his attacking prowess, has played 25 times already this season and has an impressive 2 goals to his name. The left back who is always willing to cut inside and join the attack with his athletic qualities causing trouble for the opponents defence, and also has impressive stamina to track back, has drawn praise from his manager Dean Smith, with the Walsall boss likening him to Ashley Cole “if I were to liken him to anyone, it would be a young Ashley Cole and it’s up to him how far he can now go in the game.
I’ve recommended him a couple of times to England U19s because, if there is a better left sided player in the country at 18 years of age, I’d like to see them”
Arsenal currently have Nacho Monreal who turns 30 soon and Keiran Gibbs at left back, without any youngster pushing for first team spot any time soon, the time is right to start planning long term especially with the right back spot already secured long term by Hector Bellerin, even if he isn’t expected to enter the first team straight away, a loan back to Walsall would be a good deal.
Arsenal though will battle for his signature with the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City according to reports.
