Arsenal’s proposed contract talks with Alexis Sanchez is has not gone unnoticed, with league rivals Manchester United said to be monitoring the situation.
The Gunners have begun plans to offer their Chilean star a new contract after discovering that Real Madrid are looking to tempt the former Barcelona winger back to La liga.
It is believed that the new contract will make the Chilean the highest paid Arsenal player, but that won’t deter Manchester United, who have excess funds to spend.
It would be recalled that in 2011, Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson then purchased Arsenal’s talisman captain, Robin Van Persie, sparking fury from the gunners’ supporters.
The Dutchman went on to practically hand Manchester United the league title, finishing as the league’s top scorer. Arsene Wenger will be hoping to avoid a repeat with Alexis Sanchez who was Arsenal’s talisman last season.
The Chilean winger has been unstoppable since joining Arsenal last season, scoring 28 goals in all competitions and making it to the PFA team of the year and Arsenal’s leadership will not be forgiven if he leaves the club.
