Benfica’s 18 year old wonderkid Goncalo Guedes is set to be the subject of a huge transfer battle, with top Clubs around Europe reported to be interested in securing his services.
Arsenal have launched interest in the young winger who has been dubbed the next ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’ with the club’s scouts tracking him in the Champions League in view of a potential transfer.
Guedes has already been called up to the Portuguese senior national team after just over a year of top flight football and is set for big things.
Arsenal’s path is not so clear though, with reports that Chelsea has sent scouts to monitor the youngster five times in recent months, with Jose Mourinho definitely interested in his compatriot, and with the Portuguese coach’s extensive connections in his homeland it would be a tough one for Arsene Wenger to complete.
Other top clubs have also been credited with serious interest including Barcelona, PSG, Man Utd and Man City. And with a reported £40million release clause on the youngster’s contract that runs till 2021, Benfica will be looking for full value for their asset if they have to part with him.
