GOOD NEWS: Wenger Set To REPLACE Coquelin With ANOTHER Touch Tackling French STAR

Arsenal  are reportedly interested in OGC Nice defensive midfielder Nampalys Mendy as a possible replacement for the injured Francis Coquelin who picked up a knee injury in Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to West Brom last weekend.

Coquelin would be side-lined for at least 3 months; meaning the Gunners need an additional player in the defensive midfield position as Mikel Arteta who came in to replace Coquelin  after he was injured; had the worst game of his life by committing the foul that led to West Brom’s  equalizer then later scored an own goal to hand the Baggies all 3 points is an option in the defensive midfield position; while Mathieu Flamini who is having his second spell with the club is also an alternative; but both players seem to have passed their prime.

Mendy, 23 Years of age, was dubbed as the new Makelele due to their similarities in stature and playing style, and he is a player which would be cheaper to acquire and looks a more realistic prospect to be a January signing than other players linked to Arsenal in the defensive midfield position like Lars Bender of Bayern Leverkusen, Grzegorz Krychowiak of Sevilla and William Carvalho of Sporting Lisbon.

The former France U-21 international has featured for over 13 times in Ligue 1 this season, impressing in a number of key defensive areas as OGC Nice challenge towards the top of the table.
