Arsenal are reportedly on the lookout for top quality players ahead of the January transfer window.
Arsenal sent a scout to watch Porto ace Ruben Neves again this week amid growing talk of a deal, according to reports. The Gunners have been impressed by the 18 years old, who put in a man-of-the-match performance as Porto defeated Pacos Ferreira 2-1.
Reports last week suggested £22Million bid is on-going as Wenger looks to snap him up. The Gunners are in need of a defensive midfield cover with Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Francis Coquelin out injured and Mathieu Flamini passed his prime; Neves would be a useful addition to the Gunners rank.
Arsenal still retains a very good chance of winning the elusive English Premier League title this season with defending Champions Chelsea experiencing the worst ever defence to the league title while Manchester City and Manchester United have not be outstanding all season, Replacing the defensive midfield role would give the Gunners the added advantage .
Arsenal last lifted the Premier League title in 2004and are desperate to end that run of 11 years without the crown. The Gunners have come close on several occasions but had been hindered by injuries to key players when it matters most. Wenger would want to avoid a repeat of such hurtful turn out of events by replacing injured players in the January transfer window.
