Arsenal are reportedly on the lookout for top quality players ahead of the January transfer window.
Liverpool and Arsenal are set to face added competition in the race to sign Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, according to the Daily Star.
The Daily Star reports that Manchester City are prepared to win the race for the striker with a £28million bid next year.
The Daily Star via Gazzetta dello Sport claims Manuel Pelligrini has identified the striker as a potential marquee signing next summer.
City are reportedly in search for a dynamic centre forward to provide cover for Sergio Aguero as Wilfred Bony has failed to justify the fee paid for him last January.
The Citizen’s paid £28m for Wilfred Bony last January but the Ivorian striker has scored just five league goals in 21 appearances since moving to the Etihad.
Mauro Icardi had a superb season with Inter Milan last year, although he hasn’t enjoyed such success this term, EPL clubs are still interested in signing the striker.
Fichajes previously claimed Jurgen Klopp is interested in bringing the striker to Anfield and Gazetta World reports Arsenal are interested in the Argentine striker as they look to provide a quality competition for Olivier Giroud.
Icardi has scored just four league goals for Inter Milan this season in twelve appearances.
