Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Brazilian wonder kid Gabriel Jesus, the Gunners are said to have contacted Gabriel’s club Palmeiras about the highly rated youngster. According to the Metro; Arsenal officials are set to fly out to Brazil for talks with Palmeiras over a deal for the 18 year old striker.
Gabriel has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Palmeiras scoring five goals in 17 appearances for the Brazilian outfit, the striker struck 37 times in 22 matches for the youth team of Palmeiras last season which has definitely caught the eyes of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Gabriel played a starting role in Palmeiras triumph over Santos in the Copa Do Brasil earlier in December where the striker started in both leg for Palmeiras. Arsene Wenger definitely need to add to his attacking play with Theo Walcott struggling with inconsistency on an off the field; meaning Oliver Giroud is the only out an out striker the Gunners currently reply on for goals after seeing Danny Welbeck being on the treatment table and not featured for the Gunners this term.
Gabriel would be an easier target for Arsenal because he would be relatively cheap to acquire, the Brazilian domestic season is now over and he could also feature for Arsenal in the Champion league as he has not played in the competition before.
The major hiccups in this deal are the fact that Arsenal would have to look for a way to get a work permit for the talented striker as he has only made very few representations for Brazil at youth level and the youngster has no experience about European football. But he is indeed a bundle of talent judging from his goal returns in Palmeiras.
