Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push this season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best to achieve his target.
Besiktas have confirmed they are interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, according to the Metro.
The Daily Star revealed last week that Arsenal and Besiktas are in talks concerning the transfer of the goalkeeper in a loan deal with an option of a permanent deal. The Club has now confirmed its interest in the goalkeeper:
“We are interested in Ospina,” confirmed the club’s vice- president Ahmet Nur Cebi. “Him and goalkeepers of his calibre, but just because we want him does not mean he will come.
“We have to agree with his club and take his contract into consideration.”
The goalkeeper was linked with a move to Besiktas last summer but the move failed to materialize as Arsene Wenger ruled out the exit of the 27 year old.
Ospina had a decent first season in England and featured 18 times for the Gunners last season but his situation at Arsenal has changed this term due to the arrival of Petr Cech. The Colombian was initially used by Arsene Wengeer in the champions league games but after 2 high profile mistakes which cost the Gunners their first 2 games in the competition, Ospina has dropped to the bench and doesn’t look like winning the no 1 spot battle anytime soon, this has prompted the goalkeeper to agitate for a move to Besiktas, according to the Daily Star.
Ospina joined Arsenal in the summer of 2014 after a superb world cup campaign with Colombia.
