Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push this season and the boss is aware of
the need to bring in only the best to achieve his target.
Arsenal have completed the signing of Basel’s Egyptian defensive midfielder Mohamed Elneny, with the midfielder confirming that he has completed a medical and is set to sign a contract according to reports.
Elneny came up as a surprise target recently for the gunners among other high profile targets to fill the defensive midfield position left vacate by the injured Francis Coquelin, with reports claiming Arsenal were close to sealing a 7.4 million pounds deal for him.
The reports have now been confirmed after he admitted to a top Egyptian website that he had completed a medical and is about to sign a contract.
Elneny moved to Basel from Egyptian Side El Mokawloon in 2013 and has gone on to make 91 league appearances, scoring 5 goals and lifting the Swiss Championship title twice.
He represents another one of Arsene Wenger’s raw diamond signings, with an impressive range of shooting and passing, and an incredible stamina, he would easily fit into the system at Arsenal.
Arsenal are said to be paying 5 million pounds (contrary to previous reports), and would require a work permit for the 23-year-old Egyptian international.
