Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in winter, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.
Tottenham have joined the race to sign Arsenal target and Paris Saint Germain midfielder Ezequiel Lavezzi, according to the Metro.
The report claims Tottenham are prepared to beat the Gunners to the signing of the Argentine international in the winter transfer window.
The Argentine is Unhappy with his lack of playing time at Paris and is keen on a move away from the club with his heart set on a return to the serie A.
Few weeks ago, his agent Alejandro Mazzonni, via ibtimes, ruled out a possible january switch saying:
“At the moment I see no real possibility, the player will not leave in January,”
“PSG are doing very well in the Champions League and they want to go as far as possible, that could therefore hinder a Lavezzi departure in January. Next June, Lavezzi will quietly choose his team for next season.”
However the report claims, Tottenham have not given up on signing the 30 year old and would table a bid for the Argentine international in this January transfer window.
The White Hart Lane outfit are reportedly in search of additional fire power up front as they look to take the Burden off Harry Kane. Tottenham cureently sit fourth in the premier league table.
