Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in winter, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.
Arsenal is set to miss out on Celta Vigo Star Nolito as the player prefers a move back to Barcelona, according to Sport.
According to the Express, The Gunners were closing in on the capture of Nolito but the Gunners could now miss out on the 28 year old.
Nolito has been in superb form this term, netting five times in the opening seven matches, having returned to La Liga from Benfica in 2013.
Arsenal and Barcelona are reportedly keen on his signature, although the former will be boosted by claims that the Catalan club will be forced to sell before they can invest the £13million needed to meet his release clause.
However, Nolito is reportedly ready to snub a move to London in favour of reuniting with Luis Enrique who coached him at both Barcelona B and Celta, according to Goal.
The Catalan giant will struggle to sign the winger as a result of their financial problems but the player’s desire to move to the Camp nou could just make the La Liga champions go the extra mile in signing the 28 year old.
The 28 year old was recently recalled to the Spain international team, where he made his competitive debut against Luxembourg due to his superb performances for his club.
