Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in winter, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.
Arsenal have included Turkey midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup amongst their potential January target, according to the Express.
The midfielder was a member of the Gunners academy squad where he spent four years until he moved to Besiktas in 2012.
According to Fanatik, Wenger is interested in bringing the midfielder back to the Emirates after he has impressed for Besiktas.
The report claims the Gunners see the midfielder as an ideal replacement for Santi Carzola who is out injured.
Carzola suffered a long term injury in November which has ruled him out of action until mid February while Jack Wilshere continuous struggle with injuries has forced Wenger to look for a possible cover in midfield.
However, the independent claims a deal for Ozyakup may not happen until next summer but the midfielder is thought to be interested in a move back to England and Wenger believes he will be an important member of his side should he return to the Emirates.
Wenger is keen on improving his squad this winter after he admitted he will be busy in the transfer window and will it is believed that he will to sign Ozyakup.
Ozyakup has scored 15 goals in 97 appearances since moving to Besiktas in 2012.
