Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in winter, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.
Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Borrusia Dortmund striker, Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang, according to the Daily Star.
The striker has been in sensational form this term and his performances for BVB have alerted a number of premier league clubs.
The Gunners were reportedly prepared to submit an official bid worth £42m for the striker’s services before the close of the current winter transfer window.
However, the Gunners are set to face competition for the striker’s services as Don Balon via Daily Star claims Liverpool are readying a “dizzying” offer for the striker’s services.
Despite, Olivier Girouds decent form this season, Arsenal have long been craving for a world class centre forward to help them provide daylight between themselves and their rivals at the top of the table and have earmarked Aubameyang as a potential target but the North London side could find it difficult to lure the Gabonese striker to the Emirates.
Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp has worked with Aubameyang before and could use his personal relationship with the player to influence his decision.
Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with a move to sign the Gabonese international.
Aubameyang is currently the highest goal scorer in the Bundesliga this season with 18 goals to his name.
