Wenger himself confirmed he would sign only “top players” in winter, and this has seen the club linked to an avalanche of star players in recent weeks.
Premier league outfit, West Bromwich Albion are close to completing the signing of Arsenal fullback Mathieu Debuchy, according to the Metro.
The defender has been linked with a move away from the Emirates after failing to win a place in the starting XI.
Debuchy, 30, is keen on playing regular football as he hopes to be part of Didier Deschamps squad for the Euro 2016 championships in the summer and he knows he can only achieve that by playing regular football.
According to the Daily Star, Debuchy has already told Arsene Wenger that he is interested in leaving the club in January and now the Metro claims the deal to take the 30 year old to West Brom is almost complete.
This move could force the Gunners to find a replacement for the 30 year old as the club tries to remain ahead of their rivals in the premier league title race.
Wenger has refused to rule out the defender’s exit although the French tactician indicated he will be happy should his countryman remain at the Emirates.
“It’s not impossible Debuchy will leave,” Wenger said . “I happy for him to stay, but we’ll see.”
Debuchy has only played twice for the Gunners in the Premier league this season.
