£65,000-a-wk Star Set To Complete Arsenal Deal In Coming Days

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push this season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best to achieve his target.

Arsenal midfielder Alex Chamberlain has been backed to make an impact at Stamford bridge should he make the switch to West London by former Chelsea chief Ray Wilkins, via ibtimes.

The Gunners midfielder is being linked with a summer move to Stamford bridge as the Blues prepare for life without Eden Hazard.

According to report, the Belgian international reportedly told his friends he will be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season and the powers that be at Stamford bridge has identified Chamberlain as the man to fill the Belgian’s boot, as per the Sun.

However, former Chelsea assistant manager has asked the English man to consider moving to Stamford bridge in January in order to book a place in Roy Hodgson squad travelling to France for the European championship next summer.

“I would say to Oxlade-Chamberlain: leave, I really would,” Wilkins told Talksport of the Arsenal man. “We’ve [England] got these massive Championships coming up in the summer and he needs to be playing football. I love him. He’s very positive and he’s quick. I think you could even play him in a midfield three as well because he can go past people and eliminate people from the game.

“He’s a super young player and I like him immensely. Many moons ago people use to vie him against Theo [Walcott] and that would be the natural assumption, but my preference is Oxlade-Chamberlain.”

Wilkins clearly rates Chamberlain so high and he is keen to see the 22 year old represent England in France next summer.
