Gunners Boss Arsene Wenger has ruled out the sale of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Chelsea, according to squawka.
The Blues are reportedly lining up the Gunner’s midfielder as a potential replacement for Eden Hazard next summer and could make a move for the 22 year old this month but Wenger has denied reports that the Blues will sign the England international in this month’s transfer window.
When asked about the midfielder’s future, Wenger said:
“Yes [it’s not true]”, as per the club’s official website.
Chamberlain has long been in the radar of the West London club who proposed to sign him last summer in a swap deal involving Petr Cech but the Gunners swiftly rejected the Blues approach.
Chelsea currently is short of English players in its squad and the club is trying everything possible to sign English players. With their attentions now turned to Chamberlain the Blues are set to be disappointed as the 22 year old is one that Wenger highly rates.
Chamberlain is currently behind Campbell, Sanchez and Walcott in the Gunners pecking order but this is not expected to play a part in tempting the former Southampton man to move to Stamford bridge.
Ox joined Arsenal in 2011 and has scored six league goals in 95 league games for Arsene Wenger troops.
