Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push this season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best to achieve his target.
Arsenal left back Nacho Monreal has agreed to extend his contract with the Gunners beyond next year.
The attack minded defender who joined from Spanish side Malaga in January 2013 was signed on four and a half year deal which was due to expire in 2017.
The player has now put pen to paper on a two year contract extension following negotiations over a new deal which had started in October according to Goal.
The Spanish international who dislodged Kieran Gibbs from the first team during the course of last season has continued to deliver impressive performances this term.
Arsenal are believed to have hastened talks of a new deal due to interest in the player from his native Spain.
It is believed that several clubs are interested in luring the defender back to Spain. Top amongst them seems to Atletic Bilbao , understands that the Basque club hold a long standing interest in the player and are preparing to make a move in the summer.
The fullback who has played every premier league game so far this season, however seems to be happy with life in England.
“Everything feels right,” he told Arsenal’s official podcast.
“I can say that I feel at home on and off the pitch. If you don’t feel good off the pitch and in life in general, obviously you can’t give 100 per cent.
“However, at the moment, I love England, I love London and I love my team-mates so everything is positive.”
Monreal,29,remains an integral part the defence of an exciting Arsenal team competing on three fronts. The Gunners are top of the premier league and through to the next rounds of both the FA cup and the Champions league.
