Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push this season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best to achieve his target.
Mohamed Elneny could end up being the Gunners only winter signing, according to the Metro.
The Gunners who have been linked with a host of several midfielders are close to completing the signing of the Egyptian midfielder and Wenger has stated that he could be their only signing this month.
Wenger was forced into the market due to long term injuries suffered by Francis Coquelin and Santi Carzola and with Coquelin nearing a return to first team action, the Gunners boss has claimed Elneny could be the only new face at the Emirates by February 1st.
After the Gunner’s 3-1 win against Sunderland on Saturday, Wenger gave an insight on his plans for the January transfer window and hinted that Elneny could be the only signing.
“I believe that the next step is to get [Tomas] Rosicky back, [Danny] Welbeck back, [Alexis] Sanchez back, [Jack] Wilshere back and maybe we will get one player in [Elneny],” Wenger said.
“Overall, I think we have no new injuries so I’m not worried.
If we had the same number of injuries we would be a bit short.”
The Gunners currently top the Premier league table and the morale in the dressing room is very high with almost all the players doing their bit to see the Gunners win when called upon by Wenger.
