Arsenal have pushed back the announcement of Egyptian international; Mohamed Elneny. The player has completed his medical weeks ago but he is yet to be announced as a Gunner player due to the lack of international clearance and work permit which is yet to be granted.
The Gunners were initially expected to announce the player’s capture today but now it seems the announcement would have to wait till before the weekend’s fixture against Stoke City for any announcement to be made.
The Gunners have agreed to a fee of £7.4 Million for the Egyptian international midfielder and the player has additional completed his medical with the club; the only barrier is the work permit and international clearance which the club are currently handling.
The Gunners faced a similar scenario on the Gonzalo Higuain move from Real Madrid to the Emirates. It was looking like Arsenal would complete a deal for the Argentine for several weeks before he reportedly made the switch to Naples to join Napoli.
Let’s hope there won’t be a repeat of the same situation as the Elneny deal is taking longer than expected. Elneny seems to be the only face likely to join the Gunners anytime soon.
