Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push this season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best to achieve his target.
Watford Boss Quique Flores has ruled out the sale of club captain Troy Deeney and his partner Odion Ighalo, according to the Daily Mail.
The Gunners have been linked with a move to sign the Watford duo as Wenger looks for a striker to provide competition for Olivier Giroud as he hopes to strengthen his squad for the second half of the season.
When asked about the Gunners interest in the duo, Flores said:
“It is normal as Deeney has scored a lot,”
“It is important for the confidence of the players and I am happy because he is scoring but I am not worried about what happens in the future.
“Deeney and Ighalo are good players for this team, and for this project we need players of this level.
“I am sure these players will not be going in the middle of the season.”
Ighalo and Deeney currently have 20 goals between them and Ighalo has scored fourteen of those goals.
The Gunners have accepted they will not be able to sign the striker in this month’s transfer window but will keep an eye on the centre forward as regards next summer.
Arsenal currently top the premier league table and should they win the league at the end of the season, they will be hoping to build on that by signing top players in the summer.
