UPDATE: £65,000-a-wk Defender Set To Complete Arsenal Transfer in Coming Days

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push this season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best to achieve his target.

Yet another day, yet another club interested in the signature of out of favour Arsenal right back Mathieu Debuchy. A day doesn’t seem to pass without the Frenchman being linked with a new club.

According to The Sun, German club Bayer Leverkusen are the latest club to have joined the race to sign the right-back in the January transfer window.

The defender has already been linked with premier league sides West Bromwich Albion and bottom of the log Aston Villa as well as European giants Paris Saint-Germain and AS Roma.

The Frenchman’s departure from Arsenal seems to be a matter of when and not if as Gunners manager confirmed the possibility of the player making a move when speaking to the media before his side come from behind 3-1 victory over Sunderland, a game Debuchy also didn’t feature in.

“Mathieu has an opportunity to go but we have not been in touch with any club,” said Wenger.

Debuchy, 30, who is seriously desperate about a move away from the Emirates this winter is understood to favour a move back to his homeland.

“A return to France? Why not?” declared Debuchy before Christmas when asked about the speculation linking him away from the Emirates.

Debuchy despite arriving at the Emirates just 18 months ago lost his place in the first team to Spanish youngster Hector Bellerin during the course of last season has made only two premier league appearances for the Gunners this campaign.

The Frenchman who is in further danger of losing his place in the national side is understandably frustrated and seeking more playing time having been left out of match day squads over the festive period as the gunners battled champions Man city as well Southampton and Debuchy’s former side Newcastle.
