Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a major title push this season and the boss is aware of the need to bring in only the best to achieve his target.
Arsenal skipper, Mikel Arteta is attracting the interest of London rivals West Ham United, according to reports.
The hammers are said to be negotiating with the Gunners to seal the transfer of the former Everton midfielder and current Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta away from the emirates in the January transfer window.
Arteta is in the last season of his contract at the Emirates and at 33 year of age and his consistent injury problems; it is highly unlikely that the Spaniard would be getting a new contract at the expiration of his current deal.
The Hammers want to add to their squad and Arteta’s wealth of experience in the Premier League could come in handy for West Ham who are looking to sign him for free in the summer when he would have been a free agent.
But reports suggest that West Ham are also talking to Arsenal about the possibility of signing the midfielder now. Arsene Wenger would be wise enough not to lose Arteta on a free by the summer and would love to cash in on him this January but would be weary of the injury concern in the Gunners midfield.
The arrival of Mohamed Elneny in the coming days and the addition of any further midfield target should be enough to see the Gunners sanction the sales of the Spaniard who moved to the Emirates from Goodison Park.
